Yes, there is plenty of space left at all our cemeteries to serve our community for years to come. At Lincoln Cemetery, our first burial took place in 1925 and since then, we’ve been privileged to handle cemetery arrangements for tens of thousands of people and, again, still have many years of burial space available. What is a perpetual care cemetery?
Lincoln, Monte Vista, Washington and Dawn Cemetery are all perpetual care cemeteries, and they all have a perpetual care fund set up. Every time that someone is buried or entombed in our cemeteries, a portion of the proceeds of the sale will be put into this fund. This fund is then used over time to maintain the cemeteries and to make any necessary repairs to them. It’s utilized to keep up with the landscaping, to work on the roads that run through the cemeteries, and to maintain the buildings on our grounds. All of this will keep a cemetery running like clockwork and ensure that it always looks its best for the years to come.
What is a burial vault?
A vault is an outer burial container that serves to protect a casket and to help keep the integrity of the grounds. Vaults are required for burial at all our cemeteries.
What is a “double-depth” or second right of interment?
In many of our gardens across all our cemeteries we allow for the burial of two caskets in a grave. Double depth means that one casket is placed deeper than standard depth into a grave, and later when a second interment is required, the second casket is placed on top of the first casket at the standard depth. They are a cost-effective option for loved ones to be buried together in one space.
What is a crypt?
A crypt is an entombment option for either a single casket or in tandem (two caskets) within the walls of a mausoleum building.
What is a niche?
A space in a columbarium provided for the placement of one or more cremation urns.
Can cremated remains be buried or entombed with a loved one?
In many cases - yes. Please speak to one of our counselors to discuss your options.
What should I consider before choosing burial or cremation?
This is a deeply personal choice and there are many things that you need to consider. Our counselors at Lincoln Memorial Group are available to help guide you in finding the appropriate option.
What is a mausoleum?
A building containing crypts to place full-body burials above ground in them.
What is a columbarium?
A building that contains niches for placing urns in them.
